Formula b&d

We offer you the formula b&d (breakfast & dinner) on monday, wednesday and saturday. At Podere le Spighe you can taste the typical dishes of Tuscan cuisine. Wine, meat and cheese come from local producers, vegetables from our garden. Enjoy the taste of simple home tuscan food.

Every dish combines creativeness and respect of tradition, starting from the choice and processing of typical products, to the arrangement of the dishes and their presentation to our guests. Every single dish is skilfully matched to the right wine, in a homely atmosphere, sitting inside the breakfast room or on the veranda, admiring the romantic view out of the vineyard and the garden. Tuscan food is based upon using the most fresh and simple ingredients of the season including many legumes, cheeses, vegetables and fruits.  Typical dishes are based upon what Tuscans find fresh and local at the market that week, making them often very easy to prepare and involving few ingredients.

Our appetisers, which come from the traditional poor and rural Tuscan food, are toasted bread (bruschetta), with cherry tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms from our region or in-season vegetables, dressed with our special extra virgin olive oil, characterized by its sharp and aromatic taste.

Our home made pasta, tagliatelle, tagliolini, gnocchi, pici, strozzapreti and pappardelle, our typical soups made of different kinds of mushrooms, or our Mediterranean vegetable soups, with chickpeas and beans, the famous Pappa al Pomodoro (tomatoes soup),  are only some of the typical starters of our region.

Our second courses are grilled meat served on the griddle and rich and nifty dishes made of Wild Boar, the Cinta Senese and the Chianina, all coming from our traditional Tuscan cuisine.

Finally, our desserts are rigorously home made, created by our chef’s imagination: our Panna Cotta (a kind of cream caramel) with mixed berries and the typical tozzetti (a kind of biscuit) served with vin santo (holy wine).
